The school is located in a hamlet in the commune of Pénestin, a small fishing village in southern Brittany (Morbihan department), with fewer than 2,000 year-round inhabitants. The school is 5 km from the town center and its shops.

Throughout the year, the village’s main activity is mussel farming (mussels grown on bouchot poles). During the summer season, tourism becomes a major economic activity, with seasonal shops, bike rentals, a twice-weekly market, cultural events, and water sports such as sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Pénestin boasts 25 km of sandstone cliffs and beaches, known for its oyster and mussel farms. The unspoiled coastline offers cliffs, sandy beaches, and coves—ideal for swimming or windsurfing. Coastal paths and bike trails make it easy to explore the beautiful region. The GR34 hiking trail runs 12 km along the Atlantic coast, from Pointe du Bile to the port of Tréhiguier.

Tréhiguier port, located in the the north of Pénestin’s coastline, at the junction between the ocean and the Vilaine river, adds to the town’s charm—enjoy a drink or seafood while overlooking the harbor. In summer, concerts are also held here.
