Our

Story

Käskessä Language School was founded in 1989 as a registered association to promote cultural exchange between France and other countries. We specialize in designing and running French courses tailored to specific target groups.

Founders Charlotte Schneider and Jutta Brost—both social and theater educators—developed a lively and playful teaching method. This method has been passed down to us as the new team and remains the foundation of our approach.

With the language diversity of our new young team, we aim to adapt the method to other native languages. With creativity and passion, we are writing a new chapter for Käskessä—as a team of friends and family pursuing this project.

What Makes Us Special

What Makes Us Special: We excel at teaching mixed-age groups. In level-appropriate classes, kids, teens, adults, and seniors all enjoy learning French with us. The small size of the school and the strong commitment of our team allow for a very personal and effective learning experience.

Our teachers use various materials—from dialogues and songs to theater and game-based exercises. Grammar, an essential component of language proficiency, is also covered using our own tried-and-tested materials, which are regularly updated.

*We accommodate up to 22 students per course across up to 3 different levels from beginners to intermediate and more advanced.

Daily

Schedule

We offer two-week language stays, with the option to stay in the schoolhouse or, at your own expense, in nearby accommodations.

Classes run Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm (with a 30-minute break). Courses include 4 class units (45 minutes each) per day and 3 shared lunches per week that usually starts around 1:15 pm.

Meals are cooked with passion and made with fresh, mainly local products, including organic vegetables from our garden or a nearby organic farm. A vegetarian option is always available. These shared meals are valuable moments of connection between students, as well as with our teaching team and chef.

Some days include optional organized activities after class. We’re also happy to advise on local attractions (see “The Surroundings”).
